Adobe Releases RTMP Specification 0

This is a few days old now, but on Monday Adobe finally got around to releasing the specification for their real-time messaging protocol. This should make it much easier for open source efforts like RTMPy to polish their implementations.

Interesting times…

Quote of the Day 0

Tip o’ the hat to Bishop Hill

In the US Congress, it looks as though they look across the Atlantic to our own Galumphin’ Gordon Brown for inspiration. This might look a bit like getting your chat-up lines from Benny Hill

Note: this post is only tagged as funny because if you don’t laugh then your only remaining options are to cry or take up arms…

Ripping Open Ruby Packages 2

This looks like a mistake: Rip: A Next Generation Ruby Packaging System. One of the things that Ruby does really well is library packaging, RubyGems may have some flaws but it basically works really well. Contrast this with the situation in Python where there are a number of different packaging systems (see, e.g. this discussion by Ian Bicking), and it’s just a mess — -this stands out all the more as Python normally follows a ‘one way to do it’ approach.

Hopefully this attempt to fork the Ruby packaging world will be dead on arrival.

Tip o’ the hat to Ryan Tomayko for pointing this out.

Vibration Function 0

GameSetWatch is reporting about a new ‘motion-based erotic game’ for the Nokia N95:

Players have to move and tilt their phone along with the game’s music …, Play also seems to use the handset’s vibration function in some manner.

Oh yeah, I’ll just bet it does!
